Made this for my boat, it slides in a sleeve that is mounted in various locations in the boat. So, can fish different places not just stuck in one spot like most store bought rod holders. Got to try them the other day and have a few modifications to make but am very pleased with them.

Are you sure you want to mount the holder SO VERY CLOSE TO THE SEAT like that ???? Ain't gonna be comfy, much less workable....rod being jammed up so close. Back seat looks reasonably placed.

I agree FixorFish. That might be one of his modifications.

Yeah, it was very close and is definitely one of the modifications that will be made. All in all the concept worked out great.

There is no way that I would attempt to try and fish 8 poles at one time, lol. Of course I fish out of a kayak, so 3 is more than enough for me. Good job tho. Looks line it should work well after your mods have been applied.

There is 2 in the boat, yeah and when we tried them I think I only had 2 out at once and at times 3. Once the mods are made I could try 4 but because of the way it was so close to the seat it wasn’t very comfortable.

Have you considered notching the PVC to hold the reels in a set position?

I have a carrier that I use to transport my equipment to the dock and the reels would spin and get in the way. Just notched about 1 1/2" problem solved.

Have thought about that but not really went further with it. When the holder goes in the sleeve there is a pin goes through that holds it and keeps it from turning. If that answers your reply.

Pin sounds like a good idea alf, just as long as it doesn't get in the way of removing the rod from the holder if you are in the process of catching.

Out fitting your boat will take multiple enhancements and when you think you got everything just the way you want it " ding ", another idea pops into your head.

Good luck and please send pics of your progress. We all learn and share.

I’m just wondering where you going to put your legs. lol. Nice job on the rod holders though. With the modifications you’ll have a really nice setup. From the flag on the wall I’d bet you’re a good old southern boy. And is that a case of old fashioned Coke on the fridge?

The pin is down below where the whole rig slides down in the sleeve. There is nothing in the way of the rods sliding in and out of the holder.
Yeah, there is no leg room, so modifications are in the works.

Yep from East TN and that is old NASCAR Coke and Pepsi I actually got when I bought some other stuff. Just haven’t had a chance to sell it. Some Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt bottles.

Hey Al when you reply to a post it would help if you hit the quote reply section. A post may show up further down the list and scrolling back words is eliminated to see what you are talking about.
