The leaves are the for sure giveaway on Rhododendron. Yes Crankit47 is correct. I live about 15 miles below Rhododendron Oregon at the base of Mt Hood. It is the name of the town because they grow wild there. They grow like a shrub and can be trimmed to remain eye level where the ladies can admire them.

Laurel Leaves are a little larger and do not produce pretty flowers like Rodies. But yes sir that is what they are known as for sure Mountain Laurel. They are very common on Landscaping of yards here in Great North West. You can find them in the wild here.

Other Laurels have flowers but the Rodies are very popular. I will post a picture of some other Laurel Flowers.

Crankit, do you ever go to the rhododendron festival over at Roan Mt? I used to go when I lived in Asheville. It’s beautiful.
