I live in Central Florida but am very interested in fishing for Peacock Bass. IIRC, there are canals with Peacock Bass in Miami-Dade. Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA! Larry
Please go to the top of the page to third line down, My Profile and fill in your location. You should get more responses if people can see where you're from.
Yes it was wasn't it. By having your city and state posted in your profile page. You'll not have to post it everytime. Believe it or not but there are people in this forum that don't know a whole lot about the country. Also what is a Peacock Bass? I know it's from the bass family but what does it look like? Can you post a picture? One thing, by having where your from automatically posted you'll get more responses that may help you. Just remember, don't show automatically, usually means no response, because readers see no area where you live, they move on. Don't even read your post.

Several years ago I was fishing the Withlacoochee river about 1/3 mile downstream from highway 200. I saw in the middle of the river a redish orange fish I estimate to be about 2 feet long. I motioned to a friend ( from the Miami area ) to look at that fish. About this time the fish decided it wanted to be elsewhere and disappeared. I told him I thought it might be a peacock bass but he said the water here was too cold and they didn't come this far north. Theres plenty largemouth here too if you want to give it a try.

It's not about personal info, it's about knowing what part of the world we're talking about. We don't want to know your SSN or address, just a general location. If you want answers about your location... Information is a two way street.

All the people here are trying to help fisherman and fisherladies find fish learn about fishing opportunities etc in their vicinity. That's all...That's IT...and that's final. If your Paranoid that good people from the United States and other places that have a Passion for fishing are trying to get your private information for non ethical reasons you have arrived at the wrong location. They are really trying to assist you in catching more fish and enjoying the sport of fishing. It too bad some will just never get that.
Peacock Bass are generally a warm water fish but it doesn't mean they are never in colder water. Bass can easily survive in cold and warm water. Cold Water fish can not survive in hot water but warm water fish can survive in both temperatures.
