After seeing that you might get Ethanol from any station unknowingly I started using the StarTron in my gas because it was suggested by our state lab chemist. Have never had a problem with any engine.

I haven't had any problems with my mower or trimmer. The blower seems to have a problem. My atv runs a bit rough so I'll put some seafoam in the tank and see if it helps.

I guess the old stuff just couldn't take the ethanol gas...when I took the weedwacker in the guy laughed & told me to look in the back room it was full of small engines. I've been running marine gas in all my stuff so no problem.
Just hope with this oil situation they go back to non ethanol gas...

Dadeaux, there were no public warnings your right about that. But I can remember the arguments against it when corn producers were lobbying for it. Which was all an unknown at the time. But you are right.

Still remember how the Germans were protesting because all the corn or fields were used to make ethanol & it drove up the price of beer...forgot what year that was...obviously a previous life...
I thought when it first came out it was suppose to be an octane booster & a way to reduce the usage or demand for foreign oil???
Was on cruise during the first oil embargo or shortage still remember tankers all over European ports full of oil not being allowed to enter the U.S. According to scuttlebutt from their crews in bars...

Couldn’t a trace amount come from tank or hose residue? The pumps and tanks could have been tagged with 30 days to fix the problem couldn’t they? Was a fine invoked? Bet no one complained when xtra 93 was dumped in the 87 tank.

Wasn’t my rules or regulations. Reported what was found and followed procedure. I’m sure they couldn’t prove who was at fault so drain the tank and go from there.

Yeah I see your point and was not arguing with what you had to do. As you say, that was your job.

My brother's boat sat for nearly 3 years and we took it out and it ran good even with the old gas.

I dumped the old gas into the gas can I bought. I want to go get new two stroke oil to use. The gas I poured out looked and smelled like gas. I’m good with not pushing my luck to use the old stuff. Especially with gas prices like they are, it’s way cheaper than the cost if the old gas screwed something up. Thanks again for all the input.

After ruining a weed wacker, a leaf blower, and a chainsaw I finally switched to using non-ethanol gas in all my small engines. It's a 40 minute drive to the closest station that sell non-ethanol but there's a cool little bar on the way. I usually stop in there and get lunch and have a beer. Plus it's still cheaper to fill a 5 gallon can than buy one of the pre-mixed cans in Lowes and I don't want 2 stroke for my lawn tractor or snow blower.

So a couple of years ago my son and I bought a 15 foot aluminum boat with a 20 horse outboard. Both are pretty old. We took it out a few times and then he got a girlfriend and didn’t have time to go fishing with Dad. Then I had both of my knees replaced and I never ended up taking it out last year.
There’s been gas in the tank for nearly two years. I’m pretty sure I put Stabil in the tank when I put the gas in. What are the chances that gas is okay?
If it’s bad, and it probably is, what do I need to do? Of course with this virus thing going on the county’s hazardous waste drop off is closed. I could sure use some advise on how to make sure I get this mess resolved.

Smell the gas, if it's bad you'll be able to smell the varnish. If you do smell varnish and you didn't run the gas out of the carburetor, dump the gas, dump the gas out of the carb bowl. pull your screw jets and be sure they and the holes aren't clogged and use good gas. Good luck. Mike

If gas is mixed, and you do not run carb dry on the last use of the season, then you'll probably have to rebuild carbs. I have never had to rebuild my carbs, IF I REMEMBER to run carb dry before loading my boat for home. Same goes for other seasonal use gas engines, especially since theres a percentage of alcohol added to gasoline now. ( snow blowers, weed wackers, chain saws, lawn mowers.)

I run the gas out every time I'm finished with the tool, that way I don't need to worry whether I put Stabil in the gas or not, which I try to do. That goes for two and four stroke motors. Mike
