I know how you feel, I was in a near fatal accident at 22 that left me where I couldn't walk for nearly two years. Now I'm in my early 50s over the years I had to learn how to do the things I enjoy by trial and error. Fishing is the one thing in my lifetime that has kept me going. I took up blacksmithing and love it so I make fishing rod holders and things like that. You learn the battles you want to fight.

Good for you your only handicapped if you give up. I fractured my neck some 24 years ago and the end result is I can no longer work as a nero surgeon. I never gave up and went on to doing other things , adapting, etc. In short , Enjoy each day as if it is your last. Never be bitter about the past because that is gone.

I always felt we are here for a reason and things happen. We are just to stupid too understand why.
Perhaps it's Gods way of trying to bring us closer to reality and to him.

I've been on the white. 55 years ago or so. I grew up in North Liberty which is over by South Bend. Mad Anthony Wayne and Fort Defiance. No, I'm not that old, didn't serve with him, but I know about him. Yes, all trout like nymphs. Streamers too. I'm partial to woolybuggers.

I'll be brutally honest, I haven't had success with anything so far this year. Everyone on here knows I've had a big ol ugly stinky skunk following me around since before last Christmas. The streams don't open up for trout fishing until this weekend, so I've been fishing lakes and so far they've been making me think I don't know what I'm doing. I've tried dragging a woolybugger around behind a casting bubble, and no that hasn't worked either. But to answer your question, yes I have had success doing that here in California, and year round. It's usually very productive. As far as in a stream, I don't get to fish those until May, but they can be good then I've found.

Your exactly correct, if a person gives up your as good as dead. I was determined to walk, do some type of work and by golly I did and do just that. Granted I cannot do certain things and what I can do takes me longer but I get it done. I do not let people bring me down because I am a good person. Keep your head high fishing gear lubed, line in great condition and do what you know you can do ( clean the fish, cook and eat em) and show anyone who doubts us how to catch fish. Have a blessed day and if you catch to many fish, my wife and I will gladly help you eat them. Lol
