Oh, I can but I'm not going to, catch and kill trout season open today and the streams will be crowded. I very seldom go on the weekends and never opening the C & K weekend. Where are you going down at SPI? I love that place, so many places to fish.

One of my favorites is down hwy 48 at the ramp there. I go to the west side of the bridge first usually at daybreak then work my way out to the channel to Brownsville area. I also like to put in at the county park and work my way out the the jetty’s. Currents are sometimes tough there. Have to pick your days for that. All good. Like you say soooo many places. Are you back in Mn now ?

Sounds like you in a kayak. We like to go on the upper side of the bridge on #48 too. You have to watch the tide on that side of the bridge. We have gotten some decent black drum up there and a few trout and reds. We have gone down towards the Brownsville Canal but haven't done much. if you are in a kayak, out by the State Park Jetty can be tricky. I like it down by the swinging bridge going into Long Island, you can catch all kinds of different fish there. You never know what you re going to pull up. We got into some decent Mangroves a few times and filled the boat up. Have a good day. Let us know how you do.

Hey Flyguy, good morning. Do you have a boat at South Padre Island? Also, do you live above or below Duluth? Just wondering, have you ever thought about boating all the way to SPI or vise versa? I know so many questions.

We live a little over 5 hours south of Duluth. Caledonia, in S.E MN.
Had a buddy and his wife who bought a new 16' Evenrude tri-hull and a new Evenrude 50 HP, the Fat Fifty, and took it down to New Orleans and back in 1971. They made it down and back but said that they would never do it again. I'm can't remember how long it took them. The wife and I talked about doing it in a houseboat at one time during beer time but we soon came to our senses. Decided we had better things to do with our time.

I have a good fishing buddy up here and he also goes down to Harlingen, TX. during the winter months, which is only 1/2 hour from S. Padre Island and he keeps a boat down there. It's a nice 18' Scout with a 175 Suzuki on it. It works well for 3 people to fish out of. Lots of BS and good times. We don't do any offshore fishing with it. You don't want to do that with only one motor on the boat.
