They got off cheap.
In Maryland, Boat, Car, Trailer, Rods, ect all gone and up to $1500 a fish, and go straight to Jail to await a Bail Hearing. Which in this case would most likely be denied. MNR (use to be DNR) does not play around about Stripbass/Rockfish.

"If you are going to dance you have to pay the fiddler". How could anyone do that, it could not have been fun under those circumstances.

Turned out to be an expensive “almost dinner” for those 2 brainiacs!

Not expensive enough. Should also taken away their license for a period of years too.

Knew two guys that got caught with 18 under size hybrids right after the state started stocking them in Tim's Ford. They really thought they were catching white bass. they got off light the warden made them release all live fish and gave them a really harsh scolding. This was kinda understandable at the time, few people knew they were being stocked, no signs anywhere. No excuse now signs at every ramp now and the two per day over 18" is strictly enforced.

They were really lucky. Doubt if that would happen in Wisconsin. I believe they would tell you that it’s your responsibility to know what fish u r keeping
Also few years back I heard about 2 guys that were 112 crappie over their limit in Wisconsin. I believe they took everything including tow vehicle and trailer too. That was worth it!
