Pflueger President spincast reel

My question about this reel is, would you use a regular baitcasting rod or a spinning rod? The reason I ask is because of the height that it sits off the rod and the rod would be flipped over with the guides on the bottom during casting and retrieving. I have never used one but have been thinking about getting one, it seems to have good reviews.

Welcome to the Forum, max, use it on a regular spinning rod, not a bait cast rod.

Right. It is made to go on a spinnin rod. You can also reverse the handle so it is on the left if you want to.

You're welcome Max. Where're you from? Could you put it in your profile so we all know in the future? Thanks, happy Easter and tight lines.

Welcome and thanks for posting that reel. I have several of the President spinning reels, but never knew Pflueger made that one. Would strait fluorocarbon work good with the spincast reels?

I would think straight floro would be fine on spincast reels. I don't think you would want a leader knot going thru the "bail" mechanism.

That type of reel is called a Trigger Spin

Be a little careful with Flurocarbon on a spinning reel as it is a little stiffer then monofilament and you can have more line issues as spinning reels twist line by the very nature as to how they bring line in, line conditioner can help
