This is a photo that I took Thurs. AM. I thought some of you might enjoy it. I took it from MN. side and the bluffs on the other side are the WI. side. This will give you some idea of how big and wide it is 175 miles from where it starts in Pig Eye, MN.

Thanks, guys, I appreciate it. The kids and I have seen the sunrise on the Miss. many times while duck hunting. We would leave the house at 4:00 am, be frying eggs and beacon in the blind by 5:00, decoys out by 6:00, limit by 7:30 - 8:00. By 10:00 we would be home, unpacked, and the ducks cleaned. It was the weekend ritual, but Sun. it would take us a little longer to get our limit and sometimes it didn't happen.
Nice. Where the heck is Pig Eye? I google mapped it, no luck? Great photo fly. Thanks.
The Mississippi is born where it flows out of Lake Itasca in Lake Itasca State Park in Minnesota. At that point it is a small stream that one can easily wade across being only a couple yards wide.

Pig's Eye, MN. is actually another name for St. Paul, MN. They used to call it Pig's Eye because of a fur trader/barkeep who owned a business there was called Pig's Eye because he was blind in one eye and he wore a patch over his blind eye. He made a brew that he called Pig's Eye beer. I think there is still a bar there that they call Pig's Eye. That is how the story goes anyway and anyhow. I have no idea if it is true or not.
Well, what it says at the bottom of my posts. Thanks fly.
Yesterday by pool 4 near lake city MN just a backwater part on the mn side. Little too cold water temp but a couple northerns. Best weather day so far.
I see the Mississippi sun rise often at the mouth of the river below Vinice La. it’s beautiful during duck season
