Hey CH have you heard anything about our pike minnow program being shut down or postpone this year?

I just got a notice. Funny how things happen. They’re postponing the pikeminnow program until May 11th as of right now instead of opening May 1st. My guess is they’ll just run longer into October to get their quota. October is good fishing for them but they’ve planned, over the years, to end ahead of hunting season. We’ll see what happens. How do things look up your way with the virus. We’re not having a problem here. Other than the governor has everything shut down.

Well at least they haven’t shut it done completely....yet. Things changing daily. And they’ll have to open fishing back up first. You can’t fish at all here. Not even on your own property. (Just don’t get caught 😜) They’re saying things may be slowing down here but still practice safe distances and stay home.

Is that the whole state or just down your way? I’m not even going to attempt it if it’s all closed. They wouldn’t pay us if that were the case anyway. Plus I don’t need fines and blemishes on my record.

Gotcha. Thanks. I’ll keep an eye on that. Any updates would be greatly appreciated. People here are calling it fishing for food and not recreational fishing. They’ve sent that to the governor because he just added another 21 days to our “stay at home” order. Now he says stay in your residence except for essential business. Before essential business here meant grocery stores, gas stations and medical facilities. Now essential business is including hardware stores, construction jobs, liquor stores, child care, elderly care, laundry mats, hotels and motels and several others. We are allowed to go for walks, go jogging, walk dogs and go to state parks. The rivers and lakes are open but the 6’ distancing rule still applies to anyone not living in your household. State parks are open for day use only but no overnight camping and the state owned boat ramps are all closed. BLM, recreational, facilities and boat ramps are open but not state regulated ramps. Kinda confusing here for sure. I guess fishing is ok but who knows. It’s really vague at best.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything. I guess it’s how you interpret essential. I think every state has a different set of rules. Here every state, county and city parks are closed. The governor says get outside and enjoy the warm weather but if you have to get there by car then it’s to far. Go figure.

Caught this flathead catfish 19 years ago on dads baitcaster with 8# test line that should have been replaced 3 years ago at 2 am on a little sunfish hook with chicken liver. It took 20 minutes utopian get it in. I didn’t weigh it but guessing it weighed 40+ pounds.

Picture is coming!
