Any water will work, use a piece of beef fat works best, lasts the longest,with hungry dad's,half soft shad good too

Warmer water very yes, I've seen dad's heading upstream when water is cooling down in the fall, I'm in central I'll.

I used salmon livers in a miner trap in a creek,never used em but chicken livers nite work.
