I caught some puppy drum on pieces of conch. The meat is pretty tough and not too hard to find.

Speaking of flounder - had some for dinner yesterday. I didn't catch it, somebody else did. Delicious. Served it over a bed of Mexican rice with mole sauce. For you easterners, mole is pronounced moe lay. There's about 40 or 50 kinds of it, it's one of those things in Mexican households like stew in American - everyone's got their own recipe. The one I had yesterday was a black mole, it had chocolate in it. Sounds weird, but it's very good. Usually served on chicken, but I enjoy it on fish. Especially flounder.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't want anything with mole on it. But moe lay sounds better.LOL

My choice for bait on the ocean side is usually mullet chunks. I can usually cast net what I need . In the winter we usually use gold Hopkins spoons dragged slow.

That’s what I’ve used in the past, mullet chunks. I haven’t caught one in several years. That’s why I was curious to see what was the best bait. I’m heading back out there soon. Anxious to try the Mirrolure that I read about.

Welcome to the Forum, Ff. Interesting user name you have there. Mind if I ask how you came about it?

Cut bait is what I use for puppy drum. Check on line to see the best months to pursue these. In NC it was October and November.

I've had several people now ask me how I recognize a stripper. Well now I need to ask. In her stage outfit or in mufti? If you're not familiar with that term, I suggest you look it up. What it says at the bottom of my posts.

That’s a new one on me. I might know where I can find conch.
