I’m Scot and have been trying to fish Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet CA. Beautiful
Huge drinking water lake where you can’t touch the water but Good Fishermen
Catch large Bass, Stripers and some 5# stocked trout that manage to avoid the hungry stripers. My last attempt was futile dragging lead core with needle fish, bombers and cop cars using 6# leader. Also plugged the bank and used a downrigger at 60 feet. Two guys caught 2 Bass using 5# test with small Senkos. I’d like to take my 11 year old grandson back out to catch more than a sunburn again. Any ideas?

The lake is man-made and is fed by aqueducts. There is a little shore fishing, and only boats with 4 stroke motors are allowed, but no jet skis, swimming, or even touching the water. Supposedly there are cameras placed around the lake and there are 3 floating restrooms. There are 3 dams and a walking/bicycle approximate 22 mile trail around the lake. It's very remote for a large lake in Southern California.

My opinion of fresh water fishing in SoCal is - go to the salt. Lived in San Diego for 25 years and I gave up on the freshwater after about 2 years. But if you insist - there are some folks on the stage here that live and fish down your way. Put your location into your profile so everyone know where you're fishing and I'm sure you'll hear from some of them. And welcome to the fishing stage!

Nice fish Alabama! I plan to go back to DVL in mid April with some 4” senkos and much lighter test line. Hopefully I can post a picture of something!
