Had an awsome time this morning, at the San Leandro Marina.. The Bat-ray was an awsome tug of war..

Nice going Ifish. I can bet that skate was a challenge. Sometimes they will bury themselves in the sand and getting them up is almost impossible.

My dad always said pull the line tight and pluck the string like a banjo to loosen em up. I never caught one so don't know if it really works.

Bat rays are fun to catch.
When they start to run its no stopping them until the get tired.
Caught a few in the bays here.
Had one pull the boat while fighting it.

If you are ever in Southern California and catch one of these never grab it.
They are beautiful but deadly for your hands.
I have only caught one but luckily I knew about them from a news story.
Not a fish but a mantis shrimp.

That is actually what is called an eagle ray. We used to get them fishing in the bat back in Australia. When they hook up the fly through the water, put up a good fight

Not an eagle ray....it is a bat ray.

Well if you look it up it says a bat ray IS an eagle ray. That's what we know from catching then the last 40 years
