Anybody on here remember Herb Shriner? Brought to you by Old Gold cigarettes?
Herb said that the best fire departments in the world are in Indiana. They can keep a barn burning for three days.

If you don't get that joke, you wouldn't be able to cut it in Indiana.

Alot of my cousins live in Indiana. They don't care to go fishing, but one of them has a nice fishing lake. They always want me to visit, but I probably couldn't find their house. I have no since of direction.

Own fishing lake but they don't even use it. Need Grandchildren or nephews and nieces to pass on the great outdoors. Fishing and Hunting are a great thing that many are not passing on the next or even the next generation after that. Playing fishing and hunting video games are not really living it. Get outdoors. Teach a kid to do some of this great stuff. If people believe in god or love nature the outdoors is closest and the best way to experience the two. I don't think staying cooped up in a synthetic building with synthetic entertainment is healthy.

I only have one daughter & she never had children. She really doesn't like to fish. She thinks they are getting hurt. It made me feel bad so I told her - Well the fish get happy again after I release them back in the water. That's the only exercise I get going out to the lake. Am hooked on Fox news and computer looking for bargains and getting on fishing forum. Getting excited about fishing when it warms up.

Herb Schriner(sp?).... hadn't heard that name in decades. Had his songbook that came with a fine harmonica.... kinda forget what else about it/him. I know my great aunt was a big fan.
Years later, unknowing of his ads, I did smoke OldGolds until I could no longer find them, mainly because I drove a 1939 Cadillac painted a "golden bronze" color....seemed appropriate, huh ?

It was Shriner and he had a TV game show in the early 50's called Two For the Money and it was sponsored by OldGold cigarettes. He was also an outstanding harmonica player and released several albums (?) with the Herb Shriner Harmonica Orchestra. One of the writers of jokes for his TV show was a 17 year old youngster by the name of Woody Allen.

Very appropriate. don't you wish you still had that caddy?

Can't remember what I did with my wallet, but I remember all this crap about a guy from my childhood that nobody's ever heard of.

Well, I have, Spirit. But then, the Great Aunt that gave it to me claimed the greatest moment of her life was when she got tickets to a Lawrence Welk show and was the one picked to dance with him, at the end of the show ! But, I digress......Oh s#$#, I forgot about the wallet ! Had that whole "kit", damn, thanks for reminding me about that ! That and my wooden Chinese puzzle Space Needle that I got at the World's Fair at age nine..... where are you, dammit??
I do still have my Lincoln Logs (that my Father received for Christmas in 1928 ,as a nine year old, as well !, and handed down to me... great big set) and my several Erector Sets. I get them out every few years to play.
