Word on the perch shortage, at least for Lake Michigan, is that they have been getting eaten by the Walleyes!

Perch are eating mayflies and invertabres. Minies are 20% of their diet now. Walleye account for 2% for eating perch. Perch are scattered because of the abundance of food. Walleye scare the perch. This according to the odnr report.

The Walleye have been doing so well, even good table fare Perch are dinner for the Erie Eyes. Even though we get 3 man limits of Eyes most trips out, some Perch would be nice to top the box!

Lots of walleye but not to many perch. I feel walleye are eating the smaller perch so not to many left.
