Aright folks, my 2003 Pathfinder is nearing the end of its life and I’m starting to look for a new trusty steed. What are you guys driving in the backcountry? Any tips or must haves in terms of mods? Appreciate the advice, tight lines friends!

Get an older 4runner or taco... Will make you forget Datsuns forever!

Love my 4Runner. With some solid AT tires, there are very few places you can’t go.

2007 Subaru Forester with a rod vault on the roof, seems to get everywhere.

Any 4wd Toyota will get you where you need to go with minimal problems (assuming you do the research before purchasing).

I am hugely fond of my Chevy Colorado. I got the z71 extended cab, and the only 'mods' I've done is a ton of stickers.

My Dodge power wagon is a beast of an off road truck. Front and rear lockers, front sway bar disconnect 35" tires. And the cool thing about it is, i meet alot of new people at the gas station.🤔

Love my Tacoma! Goes most places I need to get to, good in inclement weather, and not bad on gas either. Versatile vehicle.

Have had a Wagoneer, a Bronco, then a LR Discovery(beautiful, but VERY expensive, to buy AND maintain).... finally gave in to peer pressure and practicality, went with probably the most popular vehicle in Oregon, a Subaru Forester. 2 1/2 years later, I can't say I have anything but good to say. 5-speed pulls my 12' Livingston lake boat and my 14' Lavro drift boat (admittedly, both are fairly small and both are fibreglass) with ease...23+mpg, last trip pulling boat and loaded up with camping gear...so definitely more economical than my previous rigs. I have my F250 if I need mucho power and load capacity, but at 9 mpg, (empty or loaded... doesn't matter !)...it sits quite a bit, these days. I highly recommend the Forester, just be sure to get a manual transmission if you are going to be towing... the CVT automatic could be problematic, if you are climbing hills much, I'm told.... just my 2 cents.......Happy hunting !

Just paid my 2013 Toyota Tundra off. Have not found anything it cannot pull. 18 ft. pontoon was no problem and never knew it was there. Towing package makes it a dream. I bought it due to how it rode due to my 8 back surgeries. It will be the last truck I ever have to buy. Plenty of power with the 5.7 V8. Gets very good gas mileage and cruises on the highway.

I recommend Toyota 4Runner. Mine is 21 yrs old runs perfect but being in the salt belt of the northeast the frame is rusting out. Probably get another year out of it before I have to junk it. It’s hard to drive a good running car to a junk yard cause it won’t pass state inspection. This truck doesn’t owe me anything
