I’m an avid fly fisherman (woman) who moved to Texas. Trying to learn spin casting for bass. Looking forward to the wisdom here.

Use your fly rod, tight lines!
What flies do you use for bass, flyguy?

The spinning rod will catch you more bass but catching a bass is more enjoyable on the fly. The spinning rod cast is about the same as the fly cast, 10 & 2, but the spinning rod is more forgiving and you can cast at just about any angle, including flipping. Depending on the water that you are fishing, like trout fishing, just about any fly will work, sometimes, but I like flies that look like a minnow on a sinking tip. You will have to stripe it back unless you are in current. I do three stripes and pause for a second, then another three. Stream fishing small mouths are a blast. Don't be afraid to use a plastic worm with a floating line and a fluoro. tippet. The length of the tippet will depend on the depth of the water, put it just above the weeds with a very slow retrieve. A smaller worm will catch you all kinds of panfish. It might be a good idea to use a strike indicator if you are not striping. I use a 3# for trout and panfish, a 5# for bass and an 8# for pike and walleye. Let us know how you do.
