I use to run Power Pro braid but have bought to many spools that have had damaged line out of the package. I’m looking for braid recommendations at 40 lbs used for top water and the occasional Lilly pad jig fish.
I’ve been looking at J Braid or Seagaur smack down.

Damaged how? I have tried all the rest and always go back to PP.

Random fray’s in the line, I’ve only had it happen once w/ 40 but have noticed lots of problems w/ 30 and 50.

I use Sunline SX1 for all my reels, hi-vis on my spinning setups.

Sounds more like a you problem. Iv been running PP on both fresh and salt for over 10 years. Never had an issue with the product.

i like j braid a lot more. im not a big fan of power pro at all honestly. also heard fireline is good. do not get suffix tho i had the "performance braid" they make and lost some fish that would have been beautiful memories. came home and fired up youtube and found a guy testing it and that stuff was breaking at half the rating lol. its trash.

I'm usein J braid and it seems to be workin very well. I put 8# on a little UL reel and it has been workin great for for throwin a little swim bait for bass. Have caught all those smallies I've posted pics of lately.
Have 30# J braid on another but haven't been usein that one very much, but it sure looks nice.
I have tried several brands and found Stren to be the best one, primarily because it does NOT flatten out with use. It retains it’s round shape. Pro-line is the next best line in my opinion.
I usually use Power Pro, never had issues with it (yet). I've also used Suffix 832 and it seems to work well. I rarely use anything above 30lb except for Sturgeon where I use 80 or 100. I just bought a spool of Power Pro Super Slick V2 which I've read good reviews on and am anxious to try.
I use power pro 30 lb trolling for walleyes. Works very well. Like any line when storing ,Keep out of sunlight. I also change line every two years. I pay 12.90 for 150 yards in Pittsburgh at Walmart world. I think a good price.
If you ever have a problem with Power Pro call the company. They will replace it at no charge, and work to correct any problem.
