Anyone Use a SUP for fishing?
I’ve been looking at fishing kayaks such as Creacent Lite Tackle and Bonafide RS117 for my first angling setup.
Does anyone have any experience fishing out of stand up paddle boards? Specifically the Crescent SUP+

I saw a guy fly fishing from one over the summer. The way I'd look at it would be by needs. How much water will you be on that you can use a SUP? Can you stand in either kayak you mentioned? Why are you standing? Are you sight fishing on flat water or going from spot to spot on a river?

Been fishing off the Isle Sportstman for about a year now. Mainly fish rivers/ small lakes and occasionally the Great Lakes. I've fly fished off it no problem, and haven't come close to tipping it yet. Works great for me as I don't have the storage for a Kayak. Comes with 3 scotty mount deck plates and a ton of tie down points.

I have a canoe with outriggers, so when I want to stand I can. I imagine it would be much the same, only with a shallower draft and less of a footprint. And standing to fish really is a game changer. Being able to get the longer, more precise casts and being able to see in the water your fishing from opens up a lot of strategy.
I imagine with a steady enough board, you could even do fly fishing.

I’d you are going far, paddling in wind, or ever expect to experience rough water, it seems like a sub-optimal choice.

Another fad.... already showing up on CL and in used sporting goods shops around here (even one at Goodwill !) Best be going "minimalist to the max"...no tackle accommodation whatsoever, sitting on a cooler (??..if you can figure out how to secure it), gonna need a leash for the paddle AND the board, in case you fall off (& in that scenario...kiss your fishing rod etc. goodbye)... rather fish from shore...lol.
And why the hell are they so very expensive ?? For what ? My guess is that in 5 years, the only place you'll see them is at lame-ass resorts. Just my opinion, for sure.
Definitely NOT a fad.
I've been SUP fishing for 10yrs.
It adds challenges (wind Chop)
It has a huge advantages like EASY to get right up on fish
I always catch and release
I pick my targeted specie before I go (kinda like calling pool shots)
I use a fanny pack to hold minimal tackle
I SUP fish on lakesfor padfish, and bass
I fish back bays in SNJ for Stripers Weakfish and Blues
Lots of tricks to make it easier/safer and add fun I don't know where to start

All I got to say bout the subject is "if it works for you and you like it, go for it." But for a lot of us here on the stage that would definitely not be our cup of tea. I have to agree with FF, I think I would rather fish from shore. At least for us it would be safer and a whole lot easier.
Would be fun if you hooked something big. I once caught a 15 pound halibut while fishing on a surf kayak. It towed me around the kelp bed for 30 minutes, and I was sitting down. Standing on a board would not have worked.
