I fish for walleye a lot rivers and lakes. I suggest 7’ rods or longer medium light and the second medium. We fished Quebec last year and one of my young friends uses 8-9 ‘ light action rods. He landed lots of big walleye jigging including a 46” pike I netted for him! The longer rods help play the fish no need for very heavy line. And we didn’t use steel leaders either. Caught lots of walleye and pike none broke off. 10lb test was what most of 8 fisherman used on that trip. Some rods with 6 or 8lb.

[quote=FS Digest]Titles says it all. I’m close to purchasing a St. Croix spinning rod. Somewhere in the 7 foot range, medium fast. Just wondering if anyone has any real world experience/suggestions on other rods I should look into.

Looking to pair it with a Daiwa Exceler LT 6.2:1 EXLT250

I have a St Croix Legend Series 6ft Medium Fast
Best rod I own!
And I own lots

I have at least 6 St Croix rods with the best of the bunch being the Avid. The Avid is a medium light fast action 7 foot used for everything from bass to speckled trout to puppy drum and American Shad for tournament fishing. Pair it with a good reel and 8lb Nano and you have a casting and catching beast. All of their rods are solid and you can't go wrong with any of them.

I has the MOJO BASS rods and loved them. I ended up selling a few of them and I'm sorry I did.

Can't say enough good about the St Croix. Own 2 Avids now and in the process of purchasing an Avid X 7ft MF spinning rod. Looking forward to adding it to my arsenal.

Medium weight with fast tip action
I like the Legend over the Avid Series because of their composition they are a little more sensitive but a little more money

I use for Walleyes 1/4 to 3/8 oz jigs with 6lb fluorocarbon

Go Get em!

Also a good rod
I prefer the high end St Croix because they are made in my backyard here in Wisconsin
