As a disabled vet I have a lifetime hunting & fishing license given to my by the great state of Oklahoma. Just before that state program started I purchased a lifetime hunting & fishing @ $350. If I had just waited. Nowadays I believe a lifetime combo license is $750.

That's just for the residents though, right?

Yes Saw. Residents only. Oklahoma & texas have an agreement that old farts over 65 can fish free in either state. Sometimes I may fish 3 or 4 states in a year & it seems that Mississippi non resident was the most expensive. Kansas wasn't bad. Colorado one must purchase a "second pole" license. Absurd, to me anyway. Looking back, I wish I had kept all my out of state hunting & fishing license. Would have made a neat display.

Sounds bout right. Cal. you have to buy a 2 pole stamp also. It costs me more for the 2 pole stamp than it does for a disabled Vet license. Same with my huntin license.

Saw youโ€™re exactly right! Here in Florida I receive a lot of military breaks. Iโ€™m still humbled by it all and realize the genuine reactions by the folks here. When really got me was the property tax break simply because of disability. Egg, youโ€™re my hero buddy! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿ‘

Well saw let's do something about it. How the hell do we go about getting a proposition on the ballot? I know we can't do that nationally, but we can do it here in California. I think it would pass if we could get it on there. Who the hell would vote against it? I probably shouldn't have asked that question.

saw I just looked in Wikipedia and it says we need to submit our proposition to the Attorney General and then get a number of signatures in order to get it on the ballot. 5% of the number of folks who voted in the last gubernatorial election. So 5% of how many million? You and I will be spending a lot of time standing outside of Walmart. Maybe we should do BPS?

When I traveled to New York last year I was stumped by a sign in the convience store where I stopped for gas. "Free coffee for vets". Now, I don't figure anyone owes me 1 cent for my service but that small gesture from the store owner struck me as awesome. In the week I was up there, i drove around a lot, i saw the free coffee sign in several places. My son-in-law's brother own's several convience stores around here & I've been on him hard to put up his sign. I haven't won yet, but the war's not over.

Great gesture to a service man. That was very generous of you and I am proud of you. However, due to bad press of Wounded Warriors, I support H.O.O.H.A.H. which helps servicemen suffering from PTSD. My son in law suffers from it and he has had many terrible episodes where the local police were called and had to take him to the VA Hospital.

Hot Rod, I don't know about the bad press.i help alot of people in alot of ways.i would rather help an individual than an organization. To much shady stuff in "non profits" i know alot of Vets. And know they're not getting what's raised for them.

Well Spirit, I guess we could give it a try. How do we get it in front of the AG? Then, how long do we have to get the 5% signatures?

saw - I will have to look into it. I will also check into what is available right now for disabled vets. I believe if you have at least 50% disability you can get a fishing or hunting license for about 8 bucks, which is practically free compared to the regular price. I don't know about just vets in general, I feel like bottomcoon, don't nobody owe me anything for serving and having the time of my life.

You're right Spirit. Our price for a license is 8.13 , but the second rod stamp is 15.94. It costs me twice what my license does. Any special stamps you get are full price. But it is what it is and I'm grateful for the break on the license itself.
