Good morning Guys.. it's a good day, rise up and thank the Lord.. for the battles of today is His!

I'm inspired, so this is gonna be a long one.. #Disclaimer.

I've been struggling with self defeating thoughts and old memories of situations long passed away. I've been studying in Corinthians and proverbs, psalms, all of the inspiring scriptures to combat my mind.. and I found some good stuff. Particularly, how do I take every thought captive to Christ? And what do I do with thoughts that are self defeating and negative in nature and are not pleasing to God? Let's hit the bible..

The bible tells us to "take every thought captive unto Christ Jesus (2 Cor 10:5). That means I have a chance to do something about all of these thoughts that are not godly, and BEFORE they enter and take up residence in my heart, and become an unwanted part of me.

"As a man thinkth, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7).what we think about is crucial to who we are. Apparently, scientists cant agree on the number of thoughts that swing through your mind on a daily basis, but they do all agree that it's in the thousands. Thousands?!? And every..single..day. who we are is shaped moment by moment by these thoughts we CHOOSE to let into our minds and ultimately our hearts. But how can we control the uncontrollable mind? What do we do with less than godly thoughts? Hiw is it possible to really, truly, take every thought captive? Seems daunting, right? Organization. Gotta organize the attic, so to speak.

Often our thoughts are focused on our "to do" lists.. a pastor once called those lists the "honey do" lists lmbo..however as we walk our day out, we can catch thoughts and attitudes that are contrary to Gods will and keep us from gaining control of our minds and hearts.

Paul said: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity to the obedience of Christ." 2 Cor 10:4-5). I'm studying Corinthians if you couldn't figure that out lmbo.. they're great books to study concerning matters of the heart.. written in them is what we need to keep our thoughts as pure as possible, but it's also written that we ourselves have weapons to fight with.

An example of how I may do this.. an example concerning the opportunity to take my thoughts captive: Maybe I'm at the V.A. and my counselor says something to me that makes me uncomfortable or angry even.. it may cause a craving or urging.. the thoughts that come in my head may be complaining or grumbling.. maybe I haven't had enough coffee, and my thoughts are negative and such.. these negative thoughts are also temptations - I have a chance to do something about them before they enter and take up residence in my heart and become a part of me. It is these types of thoughts we need to take captive by instead injecting and choosing to obey the word of God, such as Philippians 2:4 "Do all things without grumbling or complaining.." This is how we do battle within ourselves - dont forget the shells!! You need ammo before you go to war with your mind or the enemy. The ammo IS the word of God. Scripture. The Spirit. All ammunition. You need it because of this: Such a choice requires a REAL battle in our thought life, but the weapons of our warfare - The word of God and the power of His Holy Spirit - are MIGHTY to help us. Personally, I pray into my thoughtlife in the moment and face of temptation (the very second I'm aware of it), we can recieve power to keep our thoughts pure. Then, I have taken the thought captive, and Christ may do His thing!

I need to mention the need to strengthen ourselves for this warfare beforehand by following Jesus's example when He was tempted by the devil - He combats it with scripture. Jesus armed Himself by reading and meditating on the word of God that could help Him in the trials of His very own life. If Jesus needed to do this, then it's very necessary we do the same. He being fully God and fully man, STILL needed to strengthen Himself with prayer and meditation.. if we notice, (or it is noticed FOR you as a blindspot) that there are areas of your life and self talk that we find difficult to overcome, we can find specific scriptures to help us be victorious. We serve a MIGHTY God.. mighty to save, and mighty to TRANSFORM.

By the Holy Spirit we can recieve grace and power to bring your thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and in this process, we become transformed into the person He meant for us to be. We can choose to be a little more Christ-like each and every day. We can become powerful tools in Gods Hands. Allowing this inner work of God to take place in us is the greatest, most rewarding, task we can take on in life.

Take control of your mind. Go in grace and favor today. Go in love. Go in peace.

YBIC - Denny.

Great to hear from you Denny glad you are immersed in the word. That is the best and only way for us to make it through this world and not be in the world. You're still in all our prayers. YBIC

Nice!! My wife and I are planning on a cali trip soon.. I've never been on the west coast. I was supposed to be stationed in San Diego but was reordered to Hawaii on the USS Ronald Reagan.. cali is a bucket listed thing.

I'm doing okay, thanks for asking! Hanging in there. I really cant wait for spring, I need to dip a line.. its #Therapeutic. Right now the water isn't good.. meaning, it's really cold but there is no ice.. and fishing from shore or pier is a cold, windy, not fun event. I'd much rather be in a shanty with a heater.. I'm getting to old for the cold, arthritis gripes at me if I get too cold..

Know the feelin all to well. Was out today and was a bit chilly but was able to make 8 hrs. Caught quiet a few fish but only kept 1 largemouth, bout 2 lbs. All the rest were smallmouths. Don't get as much meat off the SM as you can on the LM. Not sure why but it is, so we release all the SM. They fight harder than a LM though, so real fun to catch.

I love ya brother, but I don't envy you on that trip. I really prefer travlin by myself. That way I can go when I want to , drive as long as I want to and stop, or not, any time I want to. Sure helps when you are on a longggg road trip.
