Different captains today, but same locations with the exception of a couple of different spots. The whole bait operation went much more smoothly and fast today, but I timed the actual trip to the fishing grounds - 1 1/2 hours. But you can’t go wrong fishing sea mounts, it’s a natural fish attraction, so if they’re there and biting……..

Like yesterday the first rod down and we’re bit, only difference is we all reeled in because what bit was a blue marlin. To make a long story short, 45 minutes later and the 100”, 100lb. Marlin was in the boat. The captain (different one than yesterday) handled the boat very well, kept up with the fish as it ran and wore the fish down while Joe kept the line tight and gained line when he could. He was wiped afterwards……

That was the only keeper our boat landed, had numerous hits but all came unbuttoned or cut the line. I did manage to pull a 6-7’ gray shark up to the boat that we cut loose and the other boat landed 3 nice yellow tail, also with missed opportunities. All in all an exciting day. We did take some of the yellow tail and marlin back to the hotel restaurant and had them prepare dinner for us- yellow tail sashimi and ceviche with grilled marlin steaks. Fantastic meal……………….

Looking forward to the rest of the week!

The marlin and boat captain, I think he was as happy and proud as we were!

Great day on the water Denny! Nice catch on the marlin and those look like some nice yellowtail. Ones that big put up a really good fight.

Looks like fun. I have never eaten a marlin. How was it? I have eaten sword and a pacific sail fish that dies on the line. Both were over cooked so very dry. I am curious about how good billfish are if cooked properly. For me, a tuna goes from the best fish ever to near uneatable by overcooking. I wonder if that is true with billfish.
At any rate, great catch.

We use to marinate marlin in a Teriyaki sauce and smoke it and it was delicious!
