Thanks Butch. Power Pro is the only braid I’ve used and was on my reel for probably going on 10 years now on my deep sea outfit. I put that line on an inshore reel and it seemed as good as the day I got it.

Looking at reviews, the cheap stuff across all brands seems to have similar issues. The line fades and breaks. I always look at the lowest rated reviews to see if there is a common problem with a product. With fuel and tackle prices and a 20 mile run to some of the fishing I’m leery of unknown names. However lately even name brands seemed to have cheapened their products. So it seems sometimes that we can get cheap inexpensive stuff or cheap name brand expensive stuff 🤷‍♂️

I do want to stay with the metered line. So easy to tell how much line you have out, especially when trolling.

Glenn I know many say about fading but personally I don't see that as a big issue.
So many different shades all ready in the water.
Grasss n other vegetation.
Debris in the water.

Some say use a 6 to 8' leader.
To me that would put the faded line far enough.

Then again I have a habit of doing things differently.
It works for me 👍🎣😅

I have no interest in getting into the Temu thing, but as far as line goes, I try to look at things from a real perspective. You said your line was 10 years old. I have all Sufix 832 on my reels. I have it because I can see the neon green color, it does not fade, the texture of the line is very much to my liking after the first few casts of new line to get rid of the stiffness. Given your own scenario, that works out to $38 (incl. shipping) divided by ten year equals $3.80 per year. If you are really financially short, flip the line on the reel after ten years. $3.80 divided by 2 equals $1.90 per year. Is the $ 0.95 a year difference in savings for cheap line worth it to you? That is 1/2 cup coffee or a McDonalds Soda you will have to give up a year to make up the difference.
Go for the line that suits you. As for me, it is all about feel, non fade and knot holding strength. I have tried many types of braid. Until something better comes along, I am set on Sufix 832 braid in fireline green. Just an FYI, Sufix often has to be ordered. None of the local stores carry it. There are a number of locations you can order from. Now get your line spooled and go catch some fish. Just be sure to have fun doing it.

Bapa this is what I've been using lately.
Power Pro forever. Then Sufix 832.
Beyond Braid last few yrs
Sufix Pro Mix I haven't had a chance to use yet.
Dicks had it on sale last year.
Buy one get one free.
$9.99 for 2 spools.

It's on sale now.
I just looked it up.

As for knot strength.
I tie Palomar every time I can on all line. So far never had a failure.

Like you said just have fun 👍😅🎣

Forgot to mention the Spider Wire Stealth is nothing like the spider wire we all hated 👍

Thanks bapa. Money not a particular issue. Was just “casting 😊” about for thoughts. I think I’m going to stick with the name brand. It has served me well. The line I took off filled 2 other reels. So I’ll start the service life of a newly serviced reel with new line.

Thank you to everyone for your insights into this question.

I sent my Avet reel back to the manufacturer for service. For $44 they cleared and lubed the reel. In th box when I got it back was a small plastic bag that had 3 bearings and the old drag disc. They even put on a new knob to replace mine, which was scarred up. Completely satisfied with Avet service.

I know people that can get just about anyone's bank statements, PH #s, addresses, relatives, what they look at on their computers, their drivin history, if they been arrested, sometimes their social security #s, were they ever in the military, what rank they held, where they served, what credit cards they use and who knows what else.
It's really scary how much info is already out on the web that we can't take back or delete. Just Sayin.

Yeah, for sure.
I not tech savvy enough to do much more than turn the computer on and off. BUT, I know some people that are absolute wizards with one.
Thankfully I never need to call on them. At least not very often anyway.

I know that this has been discussed before but I am replacing the line on my reel. I have had Power Pro on it for probably close to 10 years. I sent the reel for service and removed the line. I was amazed how good of condition it still was so I put it on an inshore reel.

I’m open to suggestions for brands and retailers. I seem to remember that some of you have tried TEMU and were not disappointed. Their prices certainly are attractive.

Thanks.

I like power pro super slick in moonshine color never had a problem with it and it’s easier to see than the darker colors

Exactly. I have a friend that says they won’t use a computer to do certain things. I’m like all the banks and credit companies all have you online anyway.

It’s funny how many say TEMU this…. TEMU that. Won’t do anything because Temu does this that and everything else. It’s already been going on a long time before Temu came along. I’m not real happy about it all but nothing I can do.

To me you answer your own question, if you had your line on your reel for 10 years and its as good as new go with the same line.

I think so. I didn’t like the reviews of the $5 stuff. There is a local store here that has it. I’ll let them spool it under tension.
