I'm in the process of building a pontoon boat to fish out of using 2 in. builders foam board and 3/8" plywood. It will use an old set of wheels off a lawn mower and a PVC pipe across the front so it can be rolled down to the water like a wheel barrel. I have been taking pictures as I go and hope to put together a tutorial when I get it gone. I'm currently gluing the pontoon together and just about done with them. When I get it all done I will be covering the foam with that is called poor-mans fiberglass to protect it from getting beat up. So far I have just 1 sheet of plywood I paid $26 for and 4 damaged foam boards that I got all of them for 20 bucks. I bought a case of 3m super 77 spray foam adhesive for another $42, so I/m into it less than 100 bucks so far. I have a used 45 lb. thrust foot controlled trolling motor for it and a gas 3 hp Nissan outboard that it very very light to put on the back. Without the motors or battery on this it should be less than 75 pounds I also plan to run 1/4" all thread through the pontoons with large washers and nuts on each side as a safety measure. This will just fit in the back of my pickup to make transportation easy.

We're going to be looking forward to seeing your pictures. It sounds like it will be a good little pond hopper.

Nice. Don't forget backing plates for rod holder, anchor roller and any other accessory you see in the future. Better now than when you want to add them later. This is just food for thought and may have already been addressed. I fully back anyone who takes on a boat project. I too am looking forward to photos. In progress photos never hurt. Thanks.

Nice just a thought but instead of lawn mower wheels would you consider a small kids bike tire they seem to always be on the side of the road where I live or maybe even wheel barrel tires . Just a thought. But I do like the idea of IT very interesting and look forward to seeing how it goes.

Hey fishn fool( talk about a name that doesn’t fit) ( your certainly no fool)
A few years ago I bought a Blue Sky 360 kayak. It’s layout is a bit like that.
It has room for motors and an elevated captain chair. I love it! Your going to have fun when you start using it. I have a motor but I like using pedals( no it doesn’t come with training wheels I already asked😳)
Congratulations on your ingenuity and drive, can’t wait to see pictures, while I got you on the line, thanks for all your posts
Sincerely
Old bassthird

Hey, FNF you forgot a back seat so I could go with you. When I and my two brothers were + - 11 years old, we bought a used pontoon boat for $25 paper route money that was made from 15 gallon barrels that were wore thru on the bottom flanges. We turned the barrels over and went fishing. Even got our picture on the front page of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune sports section on fishing opener day. Those were the days! Kids made their own way.
