I finally got some lines wet up here in the Eastern Sierras for the Trout Opener. We (my BFF Christy, Carlos and Gen) decided to hit Gull Lake in the June Lake Loop of lakes. My friends from Idaho (Carlos and Gen) who owns and runs Character Lures (trout, salmon and kokanee gear for the GNW) got us a pontoon boat to fish from. It started out cold (high 20s) but warmed up as the sun came over the peaks. It is so beautiful up there! The bite started out HOT as we were getting double and triple hook-ups! It seemed the hot color for the day was orange, so we were using Character Lure Spoons and lures with any orange in it. We must have caught and released over 60 trout (rainbow) for the day and kept 6 trout that were over 2lbs.
Christy and I met up with our friends, Carlos and Gen, from Idaho, who own and run Character Lures, based in Idaho. He was helping out with his friend who runs Ernie's Tackle at June Lake.
Carlos, being the artist that he is, made this sign for the Gull Lake Marina. So cool!
I netted 3 fish at one time as we had one of many triple hook-ups for the day!
Here I am with one of many caught for the day :-)
Here is Gen with one of many she caught for the day :-)
Here is Christy with one of many she caught for the day! :-)
Carlos caught this beast on a Character Lures Loko, which he primarily makes for salmon and steelhead.
Cleaning the fish we caught for the day.

Nice catching all around Ed. It looks a little chilling out there, but when you're hooking 2 or 3 at a time I guess you can stay warm. Thanks for the beautiful pictures and report. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks, Fredfish! It was a bit chilly, but we survived. But yes, the adrenaline of catching fish almost non-stop, kept us warm :-)
