Thanks bands, I’ll have to give them a whirl. Just wondering if you’ve gotta remove that hemoglobin rich deep red meat, always do it with the stripers.

Yes, the dark meat tastes fishy. I ate flounder in a restaurant last night and it was really tilapia. Flounder don’t have dark meat like tilapia.

I'd have sent it back and not return to that restaurant after telling them you know the difference.

My brother left a smaller tip. Maybe I’ll talk with the manager tonight.

Love going down to the shore fishing, it’s like a new world only 1hour and 15 minutes away for a totally different experience, environment and fishing opportunities. Can certainly relate to your adventures as a kid, the bicycle opened up a completely new world for exploring the outdoors with your like minded buddies.

Left the house at 4:30 and headed down to Neptune City, NJ to fish the Raritan bay with the boys. Water temperature was 50* and bunker were tough to find in numbers, the schools scattered but we eventually got a few. Threw 9” paddle tails while hunting for bunker and even trolled to no avail, they wanted bunker only. Had a lot of fish that would pick up the offering, run for a bit but then drop the bait without committing. Landed 13 bass between the 3 of us and lost quite a few. Ben got the largest at 33# with Gregg a close second and dad mopped up the rear. I did lose a really good one boat side guessed at 35#. Really wanted to take one home but all were over the slot of 28-31.” Day started slow but ended up quite well. Fun time with the boys.

Quite fun Andy and yes we do eat them when legal but these were above the 31” maximum. There’s a slot limit of 28-31” this year down from 38” last year. A few of them we had on Saturday would have been above the 38” maximum. They’re pretty good table fare but I gotta say I prefer gills, crappies, perch and walleyes over them. Out of the ocean, sea bass and tog (blackfish) are my favorites.

That sounds like it could be a good time. Love fishi’n the ocean, opens up a brand new world. The sights, smells and mystique of what’s chomping on the end of the line is addictive.
