Congrats to you and your sons. Slots sure can be discouraging but we know why they are there.
Fish On!!
No complaints with those regs Joel, understand the biology behind them but it sure would have been nice to have kept one for the table. Last years regs with a max of 38β would have allowed each of us to take one but Iβm not complaining, theyβre way too fun to catch only once.

Left the house at 4:30 and headed down to Neptune City, NJ to fish the Raritan bay with the boys. Water temperature was 50* and bunker were tough to find in numbers, the schools scattered but we eventually got a few. Threw 9β paddle tails while hunting for bunker and even trolled to no avail, they wanted bunker only. Had a lot of fish that would pick up the offering, run for a bit but then drop the bait without committing. Landed 13 bass between the 3 of us and lost quite a few. Ben got the largest at 33# with Gregg a close second and dad mopped up the rear. I did lose a really good one boat side guessed at 35#. Really wanted to take one home but all were over the slot of 28-31.β Day started slow but ended up quite well. Fun time with the boys.

Yeah Grizz, was a good time with the boys and yes, 3β slot span is pretty darn tight.

Kandy, I have heard reports that theyβre taking a few from the surf near the point of the Hook but canβt vouch for that myself.
Thanks for sharing your time with your sons and the fishing experience.
Great times.

Thanks hueey, just read that poem from the old man in Australia. Makes one appreciate our time here on Earth and to show compassion and love for all, I thank you for that post.

very nice strippers.....trophies....can't wait until stripper season reopens in may down here on delmarva........damn i miss that jersey shore...fond memories there growing up.....my mom told me one time that she and my dad never worried where i was as they knew i was along the toms river somewhere or a hidden spot along an inlet.....started to cross the barnegate bridge on bike to pelican island when i got older and more daring......and.....stupid...glad i finally got my license and really explore.....fondest memory was when dad found me crabbing in island heights......ended with two maybe bushel, using snapper blue, minnow, chicken and any junk fish i would catch under a bobber or spinning (sometime my sister (another cancer suvivour, like me... yet not my dad as he surrcumed in '73 and mom in '96).....would siene for bait with me until the street light came on....anyay, dad was impressed as he want to get in the act...he looked at my bait box and looked away.........almost lost his lunch......mom....a mom smile.....me i thought nothing as dad was a navy man......hey old man, remember that 30# tuna i brought back from a tuna tourney in atlantic ciity in '72?......sorry as i am into a ramble.......as we get older, it is classic that we can remember when we all fished as kids in the ponds, streams, rivers, surf, inlets and even a neighbors pool (sorry..s.....ts and giggle for those that are bored)....anyway i miss dad and mom who trusted my smarts and their taught common sense.......an other post, later on how dad was going to go after the ump when he called me out after stealing third ( my mlb career just ended)......thank you all for ... just ...there....
