Hi Friends-
Hubby and I are celebrating 30 years together next week at Patoka Lake. This is our first time there. Have hopes of crappie and/or big cats. We have VRBO on east side of lake. Can rent boat or kayak or fish from shore. Think we may be too late for morels, but we would feast for sure if we scored either way. Welcome all tips and pointers.

Welcome aboard Yak. Congratulations on tour 30th. Good luck on your fishing also.
There are a couple of marinas on the lake. Hoosier Hills rents pontoons, fishing boats, and Jon boats. Patoka Marina has what they call a fishing barge, that is basically a pontoon set up for fishing. Both have websites that you can access through Google Maps.
Crappies should be in channels big and little Patoka rivers all the way towards the end of big Patoka river be careful going up into them under water stumps and stuff but once you get back there nice size Crappies in them and work your way out to main lake big cats also congratulations on anniversary have fun

Northern Indian morels are really coming on right now. I happen to be in Batesville for the night and they tell me they are still finding them here. Hope you can still find some! Nothing goes better with crappies and bluegills!
Happy anniversary!
Many thanks Holford24!! Those are great tips. I have been studying the lake map and watching YouTube videos. I am a river rat and grew up on the Tippy so it is going to be fun switching things up. Always trotlined for big cats, but want to try them from a pole. Too wise (scared) to do that from my yak. :-0
Many thanks. Will post pics if we have victories.
Thank you for update. We live in Sheridan and went morel hunting last Tues. Woods had all indications that we should find them, but did nada was found. I agree...crappie and morels are a rock solid supper!!
Fantastic info Cletelee!! You have me so excited to get down there. Lots of options. I will check out websites at work tonight. I work nights and sleep days. Downtime has let me prep tackle and plan trip. Thanks a bunch for the tips.
Thanks New Friends for the well wishes.
