Slow at work means time for fishing. Caught at 30 inch dogfish and a throwback fluke.

Nice work Scott! πŸ€™ 30” doggie in the surf will bend a rod and give a fun fight.
What’s your go to rig for fluke off the surf?

I tried a couple of different plugs, but caught him with a jig head and a gulp. He followed the plugs, almost all the way to the shore, but never took them.

Nice to out on the beach fishing. It’s always a bonus to catch something! The hi lo with a bucktail tipped with gulp on the bottom and a gulp teaser above is my go to rig when there are fluke around. Doggies are a pain in the butt but still fun to catch something.

Welcome aboard Scott! Stripers have been active in the bays since March 1st and showing on beaches now. Bloodworms were the ticket but clams are working now too. Some good ones being caught but the spring run hasn’t quite started yet. Some good numbers of Tog being taken now too with some keepers off the jetties in Barnegat inlet, not sure about up your way but I’d bet on it. Green crabs for them.
