Early Pan Fish
Indiana Fishing

Extreme northern Indiana here, almost Michigan. Still hunting for early panfish and not having a bunch of luck, but I am still hopeful. I was never good at early spring, but I am doing better now that I am doing my homework. Any tips are welcome.

Try the Northern and Western shorelines early in the day. That water should warm first. Panfish should be staging in 4-10’ of water getting ready to spawn in the shallows. Keep an eye out for beds being made in the shallows. Try different depths with slip bobbers using 1/3 of a crawler threaded onto a #6 hook on a small jig, or below a split shot.
Good luck!

I definitely agree with OJdidit.
I live in Lafayette indiana. My Grandson and I have already cought about a dozen keeper sized Gills.
We're using red worms instead of crawlers other then that the setup above is identical.

Still researching it.
I'm in Detroit for the NFL Draft until the end of the month.
We have some tackle samples we are going to send out free of charge.
Look for:
Gizmos bait and tackle samples coming in early May.
We will be trying a fish attractant called:
Tiger's Secret Sauce and some panfish lures called Little Raccoons.
The names come from my Grandchildrens names.
Gizmo , Little Raccoon and Tiger.
Commander Bell out 👍

When I get home from the NFL Draft I'll post full details.
Probably about the first week of May.
