Another great story in poem. I do have a question for you Tablerock, I recently talked to a man who has family in your neck of the woods and he said that there hasn't been any real rain there going on 2 years now. Is this so and has it affected the lake levels in a negative way? We're planning on fishing Tanney in July while visiting friends.
Hey friend. I suppose, if you look at drought charts, our overall rainfall may be down some. We've had enough rain, however, that the Table Rock, while down over winter, is just a foot below powerpool. Not bad for before expected spring floods. It gets crazy here during the spring rains some years. I can tell you this--several factors, mostly involving protecting businesses in the Branson area along the shore, keep Taneycomo very close to normal levels. Protection of the lake level is especially important on the upper (river) end where entities like Branson Landing are perched right on the bank. They've had some messes there over the years. If you're chasin trout on the upper end, you should be fine.
Thanks for the info Tablerock. We're not trout fans so will have to see what is taking the hook when we are there.

I live 7 miles from one of the most popular trout parks in America and I don't trout fish. Just go downstream a ways for warmer water and you'll find Mr and Mrs Bass and their kids.

That little chunk was something else to catch. Felt him pick up worm, knew I had one on, set the hook then nothing. Tight line, but I felt the fish. Stuck. I just kept pressure on for like 5 minutes, took my dehookin pole and pushed down a few times, all the while gettin the "uh huh. Yeah, it's a fish. Right 🙄" from Jim, then poof! Up he came, stick n all.
Thanks for kind words, friend.

Glad you got him loose, hate to see him die a miserable death, now he will go tell all his friends that he saved him and then that they should bite your hook lol

If I don't kiss the fish I release, I at least thank them for comin up to see me and never, never carelessly pitch em back into their wet home. Head first, away they swim, to tell their friends about the dorks on a boat. 😜
