Using a jig, lure, or whatever under a bobber is foreign to me. Never seen it, never done it, but I read about it here.

A basic instructional about that would be welcome.

I'd still like responses to my original question.

Thanks

Look in the net to use a slip bobber it is alot easer for casting.

I have caught crappie on a jig tipped with a minnow. Just tie on a jig of what ever type, lip hook a minnows set the bobber at a depth you think the fish might be at and put the rig in the water.

I put the large dead minnows on a spinner to entice northern pike. I can see that working for crappie or any larger panfish.

Went for a while today, caught this one with a minnow in its mouth and my 2 minnows good to go again.

Tipping anything with a minnow is often good.

It is like butter and bacon for us.
imho

Bluegills, Sunfish, Perch, Rock Bass,
Do you catch more casting or jigging or just using a plain old worm?

I have sucess using just a hook with plain old worm with 18 inch or so leader attached to barrel swivel with slip bobber above. I fish primarilly from shore and cast, let hook sink a minute or two reel in a foot or two, let bait sink again, and repeat. If no action I cast to again nearby and repeat. Have caught yellow perch, bluegill, and crappie. I I like to use this tecnique to catch trout as well. Good luck.

What ever type of bait you choose. You can use a small round bobber or a small slip bobber. Set it at the depth you want. Through it out slowly reel it in and just give it a small tug as if you were using a jug. Works great if there’s a lot of structure in the water. Sometimes it’s just a slow and easy reel and nothing else.
