I'd like to learn about fishing lake Washington for cutthroat trout. Time of year and general location would be most grateful. Thank you in advance.

Lake Washington is the most under fished lake in Washington.

I used to troll rapalas (spelling) next to the I 90 bridge. Nice rainbows, occasional steelhead.....Donaldson trout. Friends used to fish S area down near Mercer island. Lots of info out there on how to fish it.

Another cut area is the east side near the north end. There's a buried forest there offshore from the park that I've heard is good for cuts.

I hit searuns out in Puget Sound in late spring early summer so the lake isn't for me but I know it's good because my friends hit it hard. Lake Sammamish is even better.

Searuns in the sound pound per pound are ferocious feeders and can make a pretty large Pole dance like crazy.... Catch and release only but it's well worth it.

Here's the WA state page for fishing cuts on LK WA: https://wdfw.wa.gov/species-habitats/species/oncorhynchus-clarkii-clarkii#howto

Note that the state recommends NOT eating Lk Wa cuts: https://doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistical-reports/washington-tracking-network-wtn/fish-advisories/fish-consumption-advisories-washington-state

The state .....oh yeah, the state.

Do not eat clams from Tacoma to Everett, do not eat crab butter, do not eat Blackmouth, do not eat migrating salmon skin or the fat around it, do not bother seals or sea lions, do not feed seagulls cigarette butts, do not get close to our two pods of inbred orcas which by the way only like polluted Chinook salmon and they want to re-classify them as a new species, don't eat bottom fish, don't eat prawns, don't swim in the water, don't breath H2O....it's toxic......

No offense, but nobody really cares.

I was surprised that tonight's Google search found what I posted. A similar search a few months ago said eating a serving or 2 of Lk Wa cutthroat per month was OK for adults.

As for not caring, I'm a physician. Have you cut multiple tumors out of the livers of flatfish from Commencement bay for research, like I have? Have you had medical school classes in epidemiology, toxicology and public health, like I have? Knowledge is power. I seriously doubt that someone with your wisdom would suffer any significant harm from eating as many contaminated fish as he wants. But the OP indicated an ongoing interest in this fishery, suggesting potential long term exposures. It probably wouldn't harm him, but if he has kids, I wouldn't feed them more than one meal of said fish per month, as kids are more susceptible to toxic injury, especially their brains. I eat every kokanee and trout I pull out of Lk Wa, as they are "safe" to eat due to their diets, per science and the regs.

No offense.

Well I lived on Puget sound for 60 years and I've seen those tumors....in fact I've been diving my whole adult life. And wouldn't you know it, I have lipoma tumors all over me....and cancer.

I'm still kickin, and playing competitive basketball once a week besides all the water sports I play.

What you don't understand is, everyone posts to much stuff about it.
The common public doesn't even care anymore. New car smell, burt hamburgers, toxic air and my favorite one....."causes cancer in California"

Yes you have impressive stature as an educated man but most aren't listening including doctors who roll their eyes as well.

Just for the record, I skin my salmon, I don't eat the clams in front of my place, I don't eat crab butter (clean them before eating) and I look at everything 3 times.

Overall, if we listen to highly educated people, like yourself, we'd probably never make it out of bed.

My apologies to the original poster if I have offended you but I had to respond.

I consider this matter closed.

If I read you right, you’re saying all these warnings are unnecessary because you’ve eaten contaminated fish all your life and all you got was cancer?
