Nice catch! Say, I'm going to be visiting the Redondo Beach, CA, area, from Minnesota, in a couple of weeks. Do you have any recommendations on where a guy could go to do some shore fishing, either at a lake, or the Ocean? I'd really like to try some while I'm out there.

Thanks,
Tom

I'm assuming when you said "San V" you were referring to San Vicente. We used to fish it a lot and caught decent fish; nothing real big. Just don't fish on the weekends, too many jet skis.

Bill Murphy fished the reservoir and caught lots of 10 pound plus fish there. He published a book titled "In pursuit of giant bass". His biggest was a little over 17 lbs. He would sit for hours in his small boat anchored in two directions and slowly, I mean slowly crawl his bait over his "rock pile". Very interesting read.

Drove down to SanV this morning with my lovely wife. Started fishing around 8am and caught my first fish at 8:12am
Managed four more in the next hour. Sun was bright and had no special glasses, but saw a quick glimpse of the eclipse. Got four more and headed in, looking for my wife's hat which blew off.............found it! She owes me Big Time!! Nine total, nothing big.

Sounded and looked like a beautiful day all around Garey!!

OBG, Congrats on saving your wife's hat. I'm planning on making the long trip to SanV this Thursday. Glad to hear about the shorter climb up that ramp. I'll leave the Red Bull at home this time. lol.

My last trip there was last summer. I was fishing the 2nd arm to the left (Toll Road Arm) when a snake was swimming towards my boat. It got within striking distance to my 7'4" rod before I whacked hard enough with the rod for it to change directions. :-(

Beautiful lake, but I'm not looking towards the drive back home.

Jackall 4.8" Flick Shake Worm in Green Pumpkin Pepper or Green Pumpkin Candy was my go to bait.

Morning Tom, I have not fished in that area for years. But the Redondo Pier should be good. Check with the local Bait & Tackle shop there, they could help you. Really depends on what type of gear you have, and how far you are willing to drive for lake fishing. With the rising water temps this week, I think the lakes are about to take off on a good bite. Hope that helps.

Actually the drive home was easier than the one going down. But that always depends on what time you will be leaving the lake. All my fish were caught on Thin 5" GrnPump senkos on flyline up against the shore.
