A few miles off the beach, Bonito and False Albacore are showing up in larger numbers. Inshore, the Spotted Seatrout bite should be heating up as the water gets warmer. As you can see no one is on the piers. It’s cold and the wind is rough. Small craft advisory is out all over the place. Be safe out there. Anyone fishing the surf need at least a 5oz sinker and it may not stay out there. However if you try the spider weight it might help.

From the looks of that surf it's going to take more than 5 to hold.

It better settle down, we're coming down the 23rd through the 26th to look at a house. How close are the Bonito to shore?

As of yesterday they are still pretty far out. I did talk to a guy late yesterday and he showed me a report. The Atlantic Bonito (good eating) and False Albacore (don't recommend eating but fun to catch) have already shown up just offshore of Wrightsville, Carolina and Topsail beaches in the one-to-ten-mile range.
Shoot me a PM when you get in the Island please.

You were right. I talked to a guy who said he had 2 #4 sinkers on his line in the surf and it wouldn’t stay out there. I would think the under current is really strong as well.
