Look, I may have started this by using southern lingo. For me, and I think most in the south, “good ole boy” is an endearing term. I intended to project that we have a number of immigrants - Spanish speaking AND others - in the country that are hard working, law abiding (except possibly immigration laws) folks. I did not intend to offend anyone. It appears I could have done better.

Now, for the record, let me state my position on immigration to be clear. I am for legal immigration. I don’t know how many immigrants we should allow to come here each year, but there are people who are much smarter than I who can produce that number. I am for all the legal immigration determined to be allowed. We are a nation of laws, and we should abide by those laws - all of them - in all areas. No one should be allowed to pick and choose which laws are followed and which are ignored. Legal immigration makes us better!

Now finally to the attack on MAGA. First let me say I am an independent and wish neither of the two choices we have for President were running. I think BOTH parties could do better. As an independent I try to see both sides and make an informed decision. I don’t agree with either party all the time. I believe, for the most part, members of both parties - including the MAGA folks - BELIEVE they are doing what is right for the country, and they have that right. We shouldn’t be choosing sides, talking down to each other, or blaming the other side of trying to end democracy. We need to be civil and try to see and understand the other side. No body is right all the time.

Wolf, it wasn't just you that was letting this thread of a guy wanting a fishing licenses get out of hand. You now explained where you were going with your original post and sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for clearing it up.

The assumption that a few surmised what another was thinking or understood what they were trying to say is where it went to hell in a hand basket as the saying goes. IMHO.

Instead of degrading or pointing fingers, it would be courteous to ask what was meant instead of thinking their own version of what was meant.

From day 1 here on the stage the biggest problem has been the communication between the brain and the fingers on a large # of us. Sometimes what we are thinking just doesn't get written the way we hear it.
