More 1950s in the city.
Did any of you old timers ever have a moving van come into your neighborhood showing cartoons. I think it cost a nickel and you also got a piece of candy or bubble gum? I grew up in the city neighborhoods of San Diego. Another thing was a guy would come around with a Shetland pony and cowboy clothes for you to wear and take your picture on the pony.
No on the cartoons.
Yes, on the Shetland -- I also remember a donkey painted like a zebra.
I have photos of my older sister and brothers on Shetland ponies when they were very young in Trenton, NJ, a very, very long time ago. There was a hurdy gurdy man with a monkey also.

Speaking of the fifties and cities, I watched a great film last night about NYC . A wonderful comedy starring Tom Ewell & Marylin Monroe: The Seven Year Itch.
It's free on Bing Movies.
Only film I've ever seen with Ewell, and he's perfectly cast for the role. This is the movie with the famous upblown dress scene over the subway grating, that really irritated Joe DiMaggio.
Watch and enjoy !
