One thing that everyone forgets on Open Face Spinning reels. Remove the drag screw/ that you turn clockwise to increase drag, and wash off the metal drag washers. They will get rusted and increase your drag way up.

When I get home from fishing my saltwater contaminated equipment get placed in the shower. Then in the evening when I go into the shower everything gets sponged down with body wash and shampoo including me and then rinsed off with worm water.. I towel dry myself and let everything else drip dry in the shower.. Then sometimes the next day will wipe everything down with a clean oily rag.

I had to use my Dremal with it's wire brush to get rid of the corrosion off the metal washers to get it back to 20 LB drag. Either soak the spool in warm water or take it apart to wash them.

I set the hose nozzle to 'mist' and go over all rods and reels. Any lures are in a fresh water bucket for five or so minutes while I'm misting.
