With a little boat surgery along the way, got 2 today.
Missed one pickup.
All on drop-shotted pumpkin Kreatures.
Got a chance to cruise the shoreline for the first time this year.
No well defined beds yet; but some smaller males are hanging around shallow developing beds.
Today's catch was all in about 20' of water.
They don't seem to be shallow yet; at least how we approach them.
Before we were very far from dock on our way out, I stupidly hooked myself on a loose hook. Fully my bad.
The hook went through my finger with just the tip of the point coming out the other side of my finger.
Sure glad I had my cutting pliers and needle nose.
Cut off the hook eyelet, grabbed the slightly protruding hook tip with my needle nose and pulled it straight through and out.

Not counting getting hooked, you had a decent day.
I always have a hook cutter in the boat. Either diagonal cutters or my small, one handed bolt cutter. Iā€™m hoping I never need them again.šŸ˜

Nice catching Stephen. Sorry about the minor surgery, but we've all been there, glad it went well. Nice looking Bass, thanks for sharing.

Great to get out and catch a few As far as the hook, I would suggest keeping a small bottle of peroxide in your first aid kit on the boat. Pour over hook, pliers tip and wound before removing hook. It may save a lot of infection pain a few days down the road. Stay safe out there all.

Great to hear an update on Lake Dixon. Its on my list of fairly local lakes I need to get to know. Nice fish and quick recovery from the karmic fishes' revenge we all have taken part in.

Nice fish indeed!
I've also had to do some surgery just like you.
The worst was when my wife hooked me in the back with a 6 inch rapala.
Had to cut my tshirt off and tough it out

I still wear the scar.
