Went out yesterday afternoon and last night with a neighbor’s 20 year old son on Lake Notely in the north GA mountains. Fished for bass until dark and switched to fishing green lights until about 9:30. I picked up two bass - about a pound and half each - just before dark and he didn’t score. Around the lights we saw fish but couldn’t get a bite. Just one of those trips.

I have two daughters and two granddaughters but not boy in the bunch. What is really great about this - at my age of 74 - is he sees me somewhat a grandfather figure. He went to Canada with me easily this year for a great trip to Oak Lake Lodge. He grew up living on a river and is a good fisherman for his age, especially with a fly rod. I learn as much from him as he from me.

Great to find a grandson - even if I have to borrow him - at my age.

Those girls are a bit harder to get into fishing but once they do look out!

Very cool the kinship you and the young man have. Youth in infectious, absorb as much as you can.

That’s an awesome story Wolf. Each of y’all are good for each other. I’m glad y’all are close enough to call him your grandson. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that it is hard to get the girls started, but once they get started, you've got yourself a fishing buddy .

That is great. At your age, you can admit that there is something we can still learn from our youth. Hope your young friend hangs with you. There's nothing like a good fishing buddy.

A borrowed grandson to fish with is better than no grandson at all. It is a very good thing when young folks take time for old folks. They help keep hope alive.
