Yeah, Jimmy. I haven’t been home for 6 months and the yard was like a jungle. And here in the Northwest with all the moisture that we get, moss is a big issue. So I was up on the roof of the house removing moss. If left unattended it would actually reroof a house. It grows everywhere. So yeah, I should sleep well. Nite my friend… 🐟on

I understand moss Dave. With the shade from very large oaks and ample rain it grows all over my hardscape patio a few sections of roof and in the lawn.

Don't know about Dave, but we have a spray that kills the plants, then we have to scrape it off any hard surface. Just let it rain off the roof.

Hey Dave, how do you remove moss from the roof? What kind of roof, shingle, tile, metal or other?

Hey Bob, I’ve got a shingle roof. The moss kinda grows in clumps. Sorta looks like mushrooms, without the stem. I’ve got a long handle scraper that I use to break it loose. I start at the peak and work my way down to the gutters. My gutters are covered so it just goes over the top and onto the ground. And like Jimmy mentioned I just a product that will kill it. But mine is a powder. “MossBeGone” you sprinkle it on the peak and then the rain will distribute it. But I like to scrape it off prior because it will kill it but it doesn’t remove it. And what happens is if it’s not removed the pine needles have to tendency to buildup behind the clumps of dead moss. And then what you get is Just one of the joys of living in the PNW woods… 🐟on

Thanks Dave, just curious as to how one would clean a roof. Shingles can not be easy to mess with being subject to easily breaking. I see it in some old neighborhoods around here with tall maple trees on the grounds. I am guessing you are in a shaded area with pine trees for that moss to grow. I remember pine needles from my NC days but none near the house. Locals down there like the needles around their shrubs instead of mulch.

Yeah, we’re nestled right in amongst 100’ Douglas fir trees. Lots of shade and the needles are a PITA… 🐟on
