Gel coat is the material used on boats... it coats the fiberglass to keep it from getting wet and coming apart...
If something scrapes it deep enough that you see fiberglass.... then it needs repaired
Ah, now I understand. I bought some then and didn't know it and the fiber glass cloth for a friend and we did it on his boat while it was on the trailer.
Thanks Gordon, I am normally a DYI but this is on hull, where boat would have to come off trailer.... and I ain't too keen on getting squished should I get the cribbing wrong...

One of the best repair shops in Virginia is a bit of a drive for you: Fridays Marine in Saluda Virginia. Another shop is Fairview Marine and Power sports in Fairview Beach, VA. Not sure if they do gelcoat.
