From midwest fishing different here trying to learn the ropes.
Tinman,
Where are you fishing? Do you have a boat? What is your target species?

Well where you are it is mainly the 4 lakes on the Salt River. There is one north of Phoenix also.
Blue Gills, Bass, Cat Fish, so you should be at home with those fish. LOL
Left there over 55 years ago, though.
Almost forgot, Welcome to the Forum. Lots of good people on here and some in your area also.
I live in Surprise. Never had any luck at lake pleasant
the Surprise lake is fun but its stocked new thing for me. I Mostly fish for crappie bluegill trout bass. I keep just enough to eat. Its just nice to be out fishing.

I fished Lake Pleasant Sunday, March 10th. Normally I fish from a boat on weekdays to avoid weekend traffic on the water. Since it was a Sunday I decided to try my hand at shore fishing. 6:30am - 8:30am fishing just north of the Castle Creek boat ramp with no luck, didn't even see a bluegill or small bass near shore. Plenty of carp jumping though.
I relocated to just east of the ten boat ramp with the visitor center visible over my right shoulder and cast an underspin along the wind blown bank. Picked up four decent white bass (large crappie size) on about twenty casts before it was time to leave. Wished I had started at the wind blown bank in the first place.
I caught 5 stripers this morning on anchovies on lower lake Havasu. Last Thursday I caught a 10 lb channel catfish at the same place on cut bait. I'm fishing from shore.
