[quote=audigger53]I would advise Malwarebytes.com But that's just me from checking and doing anti-viruses since 1985. LOL
Try the free version first. The real time one costs mone

That is what started the whole mess for me. Someone expertly convinced me they were from Malware Bytes, with whom I had a paid subscription. When I tried to converse with the *real* Malware Bytes* they could care less I was scammed and really blew me off. I would NEVER do business with them again or even recommend them to anyone.

I've had desktop computers since 1990 myself, so not a newbie.

I had a charge on Pay Pal that a fraudulent company went through them to get money from my bank. I do not have a Pay Pal account but my bank trusted a withdrawal from them. All other times my bank held pay outs and would call me right away on other out of the ordinary charges.
I originally bought from what looked to be a legitimate company. My wife noticed our shipping address had one digit wrong right after I sent the sent the order. I attempted to contact them to correct my address but I could not find a number on the website or an email address under their contact us statement.
So, immediately I contacted my bank and reported it and an investigation was started. The bank refunded me but the crooks still got theirs. A few days later my bank called because of suspicious Uber charging attempts and it wasn't us. The card has been cancelled now and I should have had it done in the beginning. Be aware, they sure know how to make it look legit.

Those that haven't been a victim of bank fraud yet, soon will be. My bank told me fraud was up 200% in 2022 over 2021, and 800% over in '23 over '22. It is my belief the fraudsters will bring the banking industry to its knees. Most of the present fraud seems to be coming from overseas where nothing can be done about it. Every bank employee tells me to not use checking or debit cards because that is "your money". Instead use credit cards because that is the "banks money" which will be more rigorously prosecuted.

It is a scam. Any unsolicitated email should be treated as suspect. The scammers are getting amazingly good at spoofing people.

I got the 3rd email from the PayPal scammer in my junk file of my iPad today and trashed it right away. Never had PayPal and never will. If I need something I’ll check with Walmart first and if something is not right when I get the product I can return it to the store that’s about 5 miles away. I’ve ordered a few things from Amazon without any problems.
