I don't have much to brag about, so for now just want to hear from more experiences anglers. Maybe as an inspiration for those days when it feels like I'm never getting a bite.

Charter in the Bahamas. Worst sea day ever. Even the 20 year olds couldn’t stand up. Picture is back in the harbor.

My largest fish was caught when I was 14 years old. My father and I were on the Columbia River at Bonneville dam here in Oregon and I was successful in landing a 5'7 white sturgeon. This was back in 1979 when the retention limits on sturgeon and the Columbia River were anything over 3 ft and under 6 ft

Got a 47 1/2” musky pitching a Rapala Sliver in Lake Elizabeth in Oneida County WI. Won the “prestigious” HEAD tournament. Bigger, got a 58” Wahoo trolling out of Key Largo on a charter. The musky was a better catch…and release

Not my biggest, but my best catch was a flathead cat below L. Ray Robert's. I was crappie fishing off the side wall 15' above the water line. Have to cast a light jig across the rushing current, hold the rod above my head to keep the line outta the flow, let the jig fall when, BAM!
6LB test on a 5'6" ultra light. Took forever to land it but several fellow fishers coached me along the way.
After the land, the jig fell out like nothing. When I reeled in my slac, the jig fell off the line like it was melted. The fish was estimated to be 45#, but no accurate weight actually made. The only scale present bottomed out at 35#!. Best catch ever!

34" barracuda & a 4' - 5' tarpon that took all my line and snapped it, both @ the No Name Channel in Big Pine Key (the Florida Keys). Largest freshwater, a 20 carp.

I hooked and landed an unknown weight halibut several hundred pounds that I released while pre season fishing as a halibut guide. Caught large several hundred pound shark in Monterey bay that I also released. Caught and released numerous Sailfish. One was 136 pound that we weighed as it was bleeding profusely so kept as the water was full of sharks. Also shared fighting a 260 pound (weighed and tagged) sturgeon in the Fraser river with an elderly friend when his arms gave out.
The interesting thing is that only the sturgeon that I shared the fight with, are high on my best catch lists. It is not the size, but the quality of the trip that counts, unless you are fishing for big money and paying big money to do it. Whenever I post, tournament fishermen are mostly excluded as they are in an entirely different discipline from all other fishermen. I am not saying they are bad, they just have different objectives from most fishermen. Of course mankind being what it is, many fishermen try to copy the pros right down to clothing. That being said, it is tournament fishermen that make the most major advancements in the sport regarding tackle and other equipment. More power and a thanks to them for improving my fishing. Oops! side tracked again.

Not my biggest, but very fun. I once caught a 28 lb buffalo, which is like a carp, while catching crappies during the mayfly hatch with a 4 weight flyrod and a 4 lb test tippet. Fought that fish for over an hour as I couldn't really put much pressure on him.

Not the largest fish, but it was only 3.2lbs which at that time was a record. No camera's, no news reporter, not even a local tv station, came to see it. I was weighed on a set of legal scales, and it tasted the same as smaller crappie. Jigging around some gum trees in the lake, filled with caterpillar's. The fish was popping them when they hit the water. I did have a bit of trouble getting it up out of the water. Then I hit the gunnel with the fish, and it came off the hook and fell in the boat. LUCK!
