Really fast action surf fishing off Elmer's Island yesterday for monster black drum. Big chunks of Mullet were almost always attacked within 10 minutes. It was very necessary to wade out to waist-deep water in chest waders before casting - others surf casting near me caught nothing at the same time I was getting doubles on my 2 lines.
All fish caught were way too big to eat but the fight was tremendous and I'm rather sore today from pulling in the 20lb monsters. One larger fish broke my 20 lb test braided line, so I'll never know what it was. I did see a tail fin in the air, though - so it was not a ray.

Sounds like you had a really good day. Would love to see some photos of these bait hogs. Keep the lines tight.

I didn't take any pictures - action was too fast for me to use my phone! I'm headed over there now, try to do some fishing before rain gets heavy. Maybe post later today if fishing is good again.
