Hope to get down in Aug. for my birthday, Perseid Meteor shower 11th-13th but the cost of places until Sept. are pretty high. Used to come in Sept to my Uncle in Carolina Beach but he has gone to Heaven and kids sold the place. Last time down we stayed Southern Shores. That little old time cottage is no longer available. If you know a reasonable place to rent would love to come 2 weeks in August. Don't need any fancy digs just clear of critters, four and two legged, lol!!!

The best thing is to get away from the water. If you are a veteran Ft. Fisher is very nice. Also if you book now for Aug you get cheaper rates. I am about 30 minutes from Carolina beach. I am North of that. Also try Hampstead which is outside of Wilmington. You also have Jacksonville, Sneads Ferry all are on the water or very close. Try Seaview Fishing pier as well. There is a hotel right there which also include the pier. There’s also campgrounds if you can do a tent. Lots of people do the tent during that time of year to be closer to the surf. The fall here is our best fishing from the surf.

Will check them out, thanks! If I'm going to drive 7 hrs to the beach would cough it up and pay for a place right on the water. The place we stayed in Southern Shores was one of the last one level, rustic outer banks cottages. Probably tore it down and built a behemoth. Hope not, the place was perfect.

Not sure it still there due to storms. Honestly it would be a lot cheaper if you could do it in a tent. Check out the campgrounds at surf city. Also check out Virginia Creek. I live right off the creek but before you get to my house is Virginia creek campground. Right on the water and fishing is great. Quite and it’s a ministry.
