Lots of states have their own now, as do we. Up in Leo's neck of the woods, they have "Pete".

I think it's just another reason to have a party and drink a beer. LOL.

Is everybody ready/excited about Groundhog Day? An interesting fact about the day, the saying is early spring if the Groundhog doesn't see his shadow, but 6 more weeks of winter if he does. If anyone has ever counted, there are 46 days from Groundhog day til the first day of spring. Six weeks is 42 days. So, technically, there is six more weeks of winter either way.

I don’t know about Phil seeing his shadow but I sure haven’t seen mine since the Caribbean.

Yeah the colder temps don’t get to me I’ve learned to expect them in the winter. But the sun, I guess it really went south.

If PETA has its way, there will no longer be a Ground Hog's Day. I just read that they feel it's mistreatment of the shy ground hogs.

I was curious about this "issue" and did some checking. PETA indeed published a statement that a groundhog has been exploited for over a century. I'm wondering if PETA folks have ever leashed a dog to be used as a guide for a sightless person, or other such cruelty. They must all be vegetations too I suppose ?
